To help minimise the bowing of larger stretcher bar frames under tension

Standard Brace Bar is 34mm x 14mm section and made from slow growing Baltic finger-joined pine. They fit into stretcher frames for canvas made with Standard Stretcher Bars.

Standard Stretcher Bars 737mm / 29" and longer are notched at the centre of the inner wedge. Standard Brace Bar from 737mm / 29" are notched at the centre of the face to cross and sit flush.
